Very useful January 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was slightly disappointed with Dr. Elder's another book 'Trading for A Living', mainly because, despite his promise in the introduction of that book, that book failed to spell out the issue of money management. I am quite pleased to find that Dr. Elder noticed what the defects of his first book are and rectify them in this book, which is his second work. It's been over a decade since Dr. Elder's first book was published, and I am aware that he has got more discoveries and useful advice than he had a decade ago to share the reader in this book.
Excellent Introduction August 2, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This very readable book lives up to its title - it really is a complete guide to trading. It provides a clear and in-depth introduction to the key aspects of psychology, systems, money management, organisation, and record keeping. I am grateful to Dr Elder for giving me the starting points and the encouragement to put together a comprehensive plan and to resume trading on a more disciplined, intelligent, and professional basis than previously.
It Was So Good I Bought It Twice April 28, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
That is right! When I lost my copy, I simply had to order a replacement immediately, and at the same time, I have ordered its companion, "Study Guide to Come Into my Trading Room."
I have read many books and taken expensive courses in Financial Trading, and none of them have been as useful or as pragmatic as Dr. Alexander Elders book. I just want to say I feel it has put me on the right track. Thanks for a great book!
Quite Excellent November 13, 2006 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
When I came across this book I knew more about Technical Analysis than I did about Trading, and my trading record, after initial up and down volatility had stabilised at about flat.
Getting to grips with the ideas in this book has brought my trading skills to a much higher level. I don't think anything in the book is revolutionary, but it certainly speeded up my profitable trading evolution, exponentially.
There are so many new (to me) trading skills explained that I can't highlight them all, and since they're all integral parts of one coherent whole I can't sensibly prioritise them in this review either. But I certainly endorse that this book complies tenfold with what is claimed in the Book Description above and especially the second and third paragraphs [starting "Come Into My Trading Room educates the novice and fortifies the professional through expert advice and proven trading methodologies. This comprehensive trading guide ...].
It gives very clear, logical, and developed comments on position sizing, trade entries, stops, trade exits and record keeping, as well as the issues, psychological, strategic and otherwise that surround them . Something that I could not say about any of the many other books on Technical Analysis or Trading that I have read, and for those reasons this book is unquestionably in my top 3.
