Good Pad September 13, 2006 24 out of 27 found this review helpful
Had one for many years and wouldn't use anything else, but the pens are very poor quality, break easily and cost around 30 each to replace.
The only place you can by replacement pens from is WACOM, What a suprise.
If you don't mind paying for new pens on a regular basis then you wont regret bying one.
Owned 3 as well July 26, 2006 32 out of 33 found this review helpful
If you use any sort of paint program or simply find yourself getting carpal tunnel pain then a tablet is for you.
I've owned an A5, A6 and A4 tablet.
The A5 Intuos ADB was my favourite. The A4 Intuos is too big and the Graphires are too small.
That said I use a Graphire at work and its not terrible, just not as good as the A5.
Only grumble with Wacom is that the quality of their styli is not as good as when I had the older ADB tablet.
It looks like they've realised that selling styli is a profit centre rather than just a spares support service. Styli are I think 35[ish] and we get through a couple each every year. Expect cracks in the casing up near the join between the eraser section and the main body.
Ease of use, installation and compatibilty are second to none.
Fantastic piece of kit. Go for it! April 14, 2006 34 out of 35 found this review helpful
This is the 3rd graphics tablet I have owned and it by far THE best ever. You definitely get what you pay for - accuracy and ease of use. There are even extras, ie. scroll wheel and two programmable buttons. Plus of course the Corel software, although I haven't used this yet.
You might think the active tablet area is a bit small - this is what I was worried about but I needn't have. The whole thing is great and I can recommend it over my old NISIS tablet any day. I just wish I'd bought a Wacom first - it was false economy to buy others. In fact, I've even gone over to using the pen more than my mouse, and that's saying something - I would never have dreamt of doing this with the other tablets I've owned - they were far too inaccurate.
Well worth the extra money.
A super product! Wouldn't be without... April 8, 2006 26 out of 26 found this review helpful
This is my second Wacom tablet - having bought one several years ago (it's either the original Graphire or a Graphire2). The quality and user friendly operation of this product means that it's a must for any graphic work or digi photo editing. I didn't go for the larger size(s) as I didn't really want more clutter and this is sufficient as it adapts itself to the screen size anyway... super, fab, great, essential! I couldn't be without a tablet, and only replaced the last one as I lost the pen (!?!?!?!) Anyway 11/10!
Essential kit for budding graphic designers March 15, 2006 41 out of 42 found this review helpful
This was my first try with a Graphics Tablet and I was amazed at how easy it was to install and use. It does take quite a bit of getting used to, especially as you don't have to touch the tablet with the pen to move the cursor around. To click you simply touch the tip on the pad or you can use the buttons on the pen. As soon as you put the pen over the tablet it takes over from your mouse and then you just take the pen away to revert to your mouse. I have got to say I wish I had brought one ages ago as it makes working in graphic design programmes so much easier than with a mouse. It is very well made, powered by the USB cable so there are no batteries to change and is incredibly simple to use. It does feel strange at first but is worth persevering with. Highly recommended.
