Excellent value June 20, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am well pleased with my Fuji FinePix E900 camera. Build quality and results are excellent. The 16MB memory card is an insult from a company like Fuji and it would be nice to have a case supplied. I frequently find that removing the camera from the genuine Fuji case has moved the settings dial from its chosen position which is a nuisance. Having said that I am happy to rate it with four stars.

I purchased this camera when the price was down on Amazon. Seeing what they are going for now makes me glad I did. I also bought the extra wide angle and telephoto lens. Using this camera is a breeze. Even my 11 year old daughter picked it up quickly. In fact so quickly she stopped using my old 3MP camera (which I gave her) and used this one to make some family videos. Overall a good camera. With the lens pack it'll do just about anything. Although a thorough reading of the manual is needed to get the best results. Have not had any faults or build quality problems with it.
You should have bought it before!!!!!
A brilliant camera for the price May 28, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This was my second digital camera purchase. I wanted a better quality camera with more features and more megapixels and this was great value for just under 150. This camera certainly delivers on both those requirements. Compared to my previous camera this feels weightier and more substantial and good quality. It is simple to use and gives great results, I cannot think of a situation when it hasn't delivered a good photo - unless I've been at fault. I use it mainly on the auto setting and use the telefoto a lot for zooming in on distant subjects. I bought the camera in Nov 06 but used it a lot on holiday in January 07 in the Maldives when I discovered, much to my dismay, that there was a mark appearing on the distance shots. The camera was returned to the manufacturer and fixed in about 1 week and I've had no problems like that since. The only gripe would be battery usage but I think thats a problem on a lot of digital cameras, best to buy spare rechargeables.... I was given a Tamrac camera case as a gift which fits this camera and holds memory card and batteries - invaluable! I also purchased a 1Gb memory card at a good price on Amazon as the one supplied when you buy the camera holds about 4 shots!
adaptor ring cover fell off May 9, 2007 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this before christmas, then the price came down both on the camera and the memory card .. typical. I like the camera .. looks a bit old fashioned but it takes good pics as long as you are not too far away from the subject.. the LCD monitor is unusable in bright sunshine, and on auto pics taken in sunshine come out a bit dark. there really should be an auto sunshine setting on this and maybe a snow setting as these are often when bright light affects picture quality.. anyway the adaptor ring cover fell off at some point and vanished..I phoned fuji after all its not even 5 months old and guess what ..that part is not covered by guarantee for loss by falling off , so I paid around 7 for another.. am waiting for its arrival. I asked what would happen if this one also fell off and basically the answer was tough its not a fault, somehow the release button must have been pressed and it fell off.! For 7 I think fuji in the name of good customer service could have provided a goodwill gesture and given me the benefit of the doubt and replaced it for free..
Great Camera shame about the package April 22, 2007 18 out of 20 found this review helpful

Now to the camera. It does what it claims. Sharp images, excellent manual control/over-ride with genuine tweaking of focus, aperture and shutter speeds, almost no lag and a menu system one can understand after a quick read of the thankfully clear and hard copy manual.
Good so far. And it gets better. The picture quality matches the 9 megapixel promise with very little purple abberation and although the LCD is a tad small (2 inches) and the viewfinder is a little restricting, very few cameras at this price even have a viewfinder.
There is no excuse for taking bad pictures with this camera; it gives you every opportunity to produce inspired point and shoot images or delve more deeply into the excellent manual over-ride capability, together with exposure variations and a wealth of endless tweaks. Very few 9 megapixel cameras at this price have a fraction of the features and quality herein.
However, and now I come to an irritation which thousands of digital camera users must be suffering from, and that is the clearly cynical way Fuji seduces you to buy cheaply now but pay handsomely later on. The needed "accessories" for this camera are very expensive. Ludicrously, the bundle includes extra wide angle and extra tele-photo adapters which I doubt the majority of users will ever take advantage of, but missing from the package is the most basic item: an AC mains adapter which you have to buy at a not very cheap cost later. Furthermore, the pathetic 16 meg card is a complete joke, and though I concede almost all camera manufacturers play this joke on their customers, to include two adapters which hardly anyone will use but fail to provide an AC adapter is beyond forgiveness.
So, by the time you have purchased an essential 1 gig proprietry memory card (...), a case (...) an adapter for power (else your batteries will drain just learning how to operate the camera)and possibly a card reader (the Fuji cards are not well served by most computers) you will spend up to half the original camera cost again. This is a habit with not only camera producers but also printer manufacturers. Do they think we are completely stupid? Actually they do since I purchased this not anticipating the extras!.
Apart from the usual grumpy old man complaints, I have to concede that the camera itself outshines most others costing up to twice as much, including a well known brand which has fewer pixels, less manual control and a lot more purple fringing for twice the price.
So overall I am happy and look forward to a long association with this promising camera.
I think the one thing that stands out in its favour is its very lack of trendiness. I can't stand the "tiny as possible" trend in modern gadgets. This camera feels solid and is a pleasure to hold. You don't feel you need a child's finger dexterity to operate it. It actually looks very attractive and all the buttons are simple and easy to operate. it is not too small and not too big...just right for adult hands.
It produces excellent pictures and with the single issue of a slightly less than generous LCD screen it delivers handsomely good performance. I'm off to find an AC adapter.
