2 out of 5 stars Fuji 512MB XD Picture card TYPE H!!!!!   April 10, 2006

i have an olympus camera, and am currently (and still!!) using a Fuji 256mb xd card. i figured that seeing as that one works fine, so should this. How wrong i was. After checking the packeging, and product descriptions, i see that it works with MOST xD digital cameras, and it gives a brief list of a couple of Fujifilm cameras that it wont work with, so i fire it up, to find that it doesnt work.
It turns out, that since buying my last card, Fuji have introduced 2 'types' of xD card, why, i have no idea. There is the H, and the M. I have found through further research that 'most' cameras are conpatible with one, and the rest are compatible with the other, but as with most companies, by the time you have opened the sealed packaging to find out, its too late.

So i am currently in the process of trying to return this item to buy a type specific ie Olympus card to avoid any more problems.

Always make sure you know what your buying!!

1 out of 5 stars wrong card   February 1, 2006

I have a Fuji M630 camera. Fuji are to stop producing ordinary XD cards and will replace them with the all singing-all-dancing XD M/H card. Needless to say this wont work in my model of camera. I carefully read the Amazon site. The picture is right, the words are right but when they arrived they were the M/H cards. This has led to a lot of trouble to send them back. Fuji tell me that compact flash cards will work, despite there being no mention of this in the handbook. So I will try. Everhopeful

5 out of 5 stars XD cards for Olympus C-765UZ   January 30, 2006

My card reader scrambled my previous Olympus card so I had been looking for an additional XD card for the Olympus C-765UZ. It supports up to 512Mb and I had heard the Fuji cards were compatible.

This works a treat (so far) and it's cheaper than the Olympus card if you don't need the panoramic function.

And you don't - if you have some separate overlapping pitctures see

Excellent value for money.
The cameras should ship with 512MB as a minimum in that day and age.

4 out of 5 stars Great card - read the small print   February 28, 2005

Other reviewers have said it all on the quality of the card. This review invites users to look at the small print somewhere at the back of the manual for your camera.

I was in the process of loading my photos into my PC and decided to take the opportunity to tidy up my card, deleting files that I no longer needed. I put the card back into the camera to be told that the camera didn't think the card was initialised. I had to reformat the card. I did so in the camera, took some test shots and put the card back in to the reader - to be told that my PC didn't recognise it. Back into the camera, to be told the card wasn't initialised... Looking at the small print at around page 60 of my Finepix 410 manual, I discovered that all editing of the card should be done through the camera, not the PC, as it risks corrupting the card. Too late for me. I've discovered that the card can still be used by plugging the camera directly into the PC (rather than using a card reader) but this really negates the advantages of having such a small memory card in the first place.

I'm new to the world of digital photography, so perhaps it's just my naivety that's to blame. But a clearer word up front would have saved a lot of trouble. Full marks to the card, minus one mark for the trouble caused by having insufficiently clear advice in the instruction manual.
