5 out of 5 stars I Love every version   March 10, 2008

I buy every new version of Family Tree Maker and I was once again impressed. I love finding family from England to Australia, the names and dates make it easy to find as always. I think that this product is so easy to transfer my trees to newer versions and easy to understand the slight variations.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic   February 13, 2008

Unlike previous reviewers, I've found this to be fantastic software well worth the money.

Having not used earlier versions of programe I can't comment on the difference but have found this to be easy to use and navigate around.

Well worth it!

1 out of 5 stars A total waste of money   January 20, 2008

This is the biggest waste of money ever. My children are on the birth register, but none of my wife's family are- all born, bread and lived in England all their lives. This program is unable to trace any of them. What a load of tripe. There should be law against producing rubbish like this.

3 out of 5 stars Updated but not really for the best   January 10, 2008

I nagged my husband to buy this for my Christmas and when I opened it I was really excited.....Not for long though!!!
The main problem is that the layout is dreadful. There is just TOO MUCH on the screen and trying to find my data is a nightmare.
One of the things I was most excited about was the place finder....what a letdown....sorry but if you happen to try to find a place other than in the USA forget it. Common street names have never been heard of and it keeps prompting me to change the address to a general area.
I suppose I am just used to using the 2005 version but having given the new version a go, I'd rather stick to my 2005 version.....

2 out of 5 stars Good, but...   December 31, 2007

I've been using other products to order my work but this one has a much clearer and attractive user interface. Handles all things well, maps are useful too. But oh dear, oh dear. The charts and reports are very limiting. There aren't many and they cannot be configured. The one thing I use mine for is to produce a tree of all relatives and a supporting report of data in alphabetic order(rather basic stuff) - that isn't possible!! The designers have included charts the way they like to do them & don't seem to be bothered with any other way.

i suspect the chart may appear in the next upgrade - but if not, I'm going back to the rival software.

If your happy with whistles and bells and packaging - have fun. If you want to do serious research, think carefully.
