 Brain training for learner drivers April 3, 2008

All the car controls you'd expect are included in this program (clutch, gear, brakes, gas pedal, indicators etc) in a "brain training" kind of way. You have to remember the correct procedures for each manoeuvre and repeat them in the order they should be carried out. This takes a bit of getting used to but I'm finding that "practise makes perfect". OK so your computer can't teach you mechanical things like clutch control but this program has video tutorials to demonstrate what to do. So should you buy the Practcical Simulator? Well the routines I have practised most in the program have been almost second nature when I did them for real, which has really helped me (and impressed my driving instructor!).

Well I had hoped that this would be a good teaching aid. Alas I was wrong. Trying to use the GM3400 wheel has proved fustrating. Using the wheel and the keyboard at the same time is not ideal. Unrealistic. The video clips are brilliant, and the instruction given is superb, but the combination of wheel, keyboard and mouse really let this down. We bought the wheel to make life easier. What a disaster. Buy extra lessons instead.

I bought this for my girlfriend to help her get back into driving after a long break and when we first sat down with it we didnt know what to expect apart from buying it on the reputation of past Driving Test Success products and because we had a pc gaming wheel anyway it seemed like a no brainer to get one where you can actually drive on it too. We are so impressed with this as there is so much on the dvd-rom, it covers everything we could need and even though I have been driving for years it was shocking how much I had forgotten and I recommend this not only to first time drivers, but also to those wanted to get all the up to date info if they have passed years before and wanted to have a refresher course. Superb and for under 18 on here its perfect!! Oh and my gaming wheel is a nice and cheap Trust GM-3100R Steering Wheel for under 20 on here and I reckon the 3200 one will work too and thats only 18! All in all..fantastic!!
