Withstands washing machines! December 1, 2008 I should probably say first that i haven't bought this yet, but have every intention too (unless i get it for christmas!)because I bought the 1gb version last year and it's a the most reliable piece of tech i've ever bought.
This babys been throught the washing machine three times. 3 times!
Gawd knows how many times of left it somewhere and its been bashed around and got dusty, but still works perfectly! It's smaller than a standard usb drive as well! And lights up pretty green at the end (or flashes orange when it's doing stuff), great little thing.
Very large storage and good speed September 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great memory stick.
When I opened mine I was surprised how small it was and yet it felt quite solid. It's sheathed in clear plastic as a protective cover which can be slid off to reveal the device's very tiny size - is there really 8gb in there?!?!?! Fanatastic!
I thought at first glance 'Oh, it would have been nice to have had some kind of LED activity indicator' and went ahead and plugged it into my machine. Lo and behold the keyring loop area of the device lit-up! Nice. The unit flashes red to indicate activity and gently brightens and dims to indicate no data being transfered. It might annoy some people after a while I guess but I thought it was a cool touch. See how I feel after a few hours.
A quick test of the stick's speed went as follows:
2 gigs (2.07 gigs to be precise) of large zip files from computer to card in 3 mins 45 seconds.
The same stuff transferred back in 1 min 26 seconds.
Write speed around: 9.2 MB sec Read speed around: 24 MB sec from the figures above.
They are some pretty handy numbers. I guess you could fill the card in around 15 minutes.
Only minus is that I reckon its size makes it easy to lose but theres no way I'm knocking points off for that - just a heads up to keep an eye on it!
Reasonable mid range USB flash key September 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As mentioned in other reviews, the end of this USB key glows a red/orange colour and is very bright (and the pulsing when active becomes annoying). Dimensions (including USB connector) are 19mm x 7mm x 54mm for the Width x Height x Depth. Removing the plastic sleeve reduces these a tiny bit. The speed of the device is roughly 21Mbytes/second when reading and a lower 6Mbytes/second when writing. This seems reasonable for a product of this price and size (but if you are willing to pay more for a bulkier unit you can get USB flash keys that have write speeds of 18-30Mbytes/second).
Its Tiny! August 20, 2008 What more do you need? I pretty much only ever buy SanDisk when it comes to SD Cards for my camera or phone but I was in the market for a memory stick. Knowing full well 2GB is never enough I stumbled across the SanDisk Cruzer Micro 8GB whilst acctually looking for a 4GB memory stick. For the sake of a few extra I thought why not. I'm VERY impressed. Its fast, does what its supposed too and its smaller than many other USB memory sticks on the market. The only downside I can think of is the cap. Rather than clicking or locking into place it just slides over the usb connector so it "may" be easy to lose if u plan to attach it to a key ring for example. that said i would still recommend this product to anyone.
'The best yet!' August 19, 2008 I use my USB keys a lot and have gone through three in two years. My last one was a 'Buffalo 8gb.' which broke in two after about six weeks, so it's replacement needed to be quick and tough. This little device fits the bill perfectly! It's as quick as the Buffalo was (very) and looks virtually indestructable! You can make sure you don't lose the cap (assuming you don't have any pockets!) by using a short length of fishing line, passed through a hole in the end of the cap (use a hot needle) and knotted. Then simply tie the other end to the loop on the key itself. Problem solved!
