5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Piece Of Kit   August 5, 2008

Just converted to a laptop and was worried about the amount of heat coming from it, I thought this can't do the laptop any good, I did my research and found out about this product, great reviews, so I went for it.
Soon as it arrived from Amazon I started using it as quick a flash, straight out of the box.
Well for the money this is a fantastic piece of kit, the laptop is lovely and cool, not heating up at all no matter what I am doing.
My only moan is that it should have been a bit bigger, but I got a tray and parked it on there and my lappy on top...perfect...
So if you are deciding what one to get, go for this you won't regret it.

My laptop had been having problems with overheating. I do abuse my laptop a lot, rendering high resolution images with 3D software, photo editing software, high-end games and so on.

A while ago my laptop started to just shutdown due to the core temperature being to high. I tried to flip the laptop over so that the fans would have more air and clearance but it would still overheat and shutdown.

I was worried that my laptop wouldn't get fried so I decided to get this cooler.

Right now I'm converting DVD's to my iPhone and the cooler is doing it's job perfectly. Although the laptop is a bit warm, but it's not even close as it was without the cooler. I played Crysis and Sims 2, and I even got better performance because the laptop wasn't struggling with the temperature.

I was concerned about the size, due to the fact the my laptop is a 15.4 widescreen, but even though the cooler is smaller, it works just how it should. It's also super light and super quiet, so I can always take it with me.

The only problem that I can see is maybe the build quality. It looks basic, but it's basicly just a pad with fans so I'm not concerned too much.

This is product definitely worth the money and it WILL help your laptop keep cool

Great product - keeps the laptop nice and cool while keeping any heat off my lap. Would have been perfect if it was slightly bigger as it is a bit smaller than my laptop (15.4in), but other than that couldn't ask for anymore.

If your looking for a laptop cooler this is excellent - and for a great price!

I bought this product as my laptop was getting very very hot while using it. A friend recommended a different cooler which was twice the price, but I decided to go for this one. I've never used a laptop cooler before, but I am not disappointed by this one!

It's got a choice of three speeds, and the rubber 'grips' on it really hold my laptop on it, you can hardly feel that you are using it! (I always use it on my lap). You can hear the fans when they are on level 2 or 3, but it just sounds like a processor on a desktop rather than a really loud fan sound!

I would say it a great product for the price, and it cools my laptop down which was obviously the reason for buying it!!!

I bought my first laptop and soon realised that they can get pretty hot when being used for prolonged periods of time. Initially I considered a 'laptop cushion' but soon discovered laptops cooling fans were widely available. I have a 17" laptop so needed a device suitable for that size. Unfortunately, after hours of searching, I discovered there are not many that cater specifically for 17" machines.

In the end I decided to gamble and go for this model based on the fact that it has rubber feet on the top side of the cooling surface. It's quite a bit smaller than my PC but the rubber feet create an adequate clearance between the two devices allowing heat to disperse. The underside of the cooler is also covered so you can use it directly on your lap. It's also very light and thin allowing it to fit in my laptop bag.

The fans are very quiet. You can hear them when you initially connect up but they are soon forgotten about and you don't realise they are on. There is a switch to select the number of fans you want on but no `off' switch (you have to disconnect the USB lead for this) and each fan is represented by a small LED on the side.

Once my PC is shut down, the fans continue to rotate. I'm not sure if this normal as there was no guide supplied so I just disconnect the USB's.

The cooling pad also has two additional USB ports so no connection functionality is lost.

Taking into account the weight, effectiveness, price and overall build quality it's not a bad gadget that does its job well.
