Decent laptop stand for the money December 3, 2008 Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand It does what it say, i.e. it cools your laptop, the stand is neat and stylish, previous reviewers have commented that the fan can be heard, only if you are listening for it. The sound is unobtrusive and no real problem. The only cons of this product is the plastic hinge at the rear, which swings out to give some height at the back. It is not held in place properly and is liable to fold away if the laptop is moved. I have solved this by taping it to the rear of the stand. All in all a decent product for the money.
great but . . . . November 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
brought one of these in the USA in the summer. It worked great & we were very pleased with it. sadly very poor workmanship inside & only lasted for a month - by which time we were home & unable to return. wouldn't touch it with a bargepole- not strong enough & poor build.
Excellent October 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered this item as my desk is not laptop-friendly - the surface reflects heat back up to the laptop more than proper desks.
Anyways, I was slightly put off when people said it was noisey. But it's not, not really. Yeah, the fan whirls, but guys? It HAS to whirl. No fan can whirl without noise. And it's not loud. It's gentle and quieter than the other reviewers made out - the sounds of my house are incredibly louder.
Yeah it LOOKS flimsy, but it's quite solid. I wouldn't advise throwing it against a wall, but it's sturdy. I've kept the box it came in for travelling, but I'll prolly not take it with me.
All in all, you want a cheap cooler where quality isn't linked with price, buy this. Cheap, does the job and is a nice, clean white colour.
Does what it's supposed to, but you could do much better October 19, 2008 I bought this cooling stand because my laptop was heating up like crazy (especially when doing something like gaming) and the Belkin stand wasn't too expensive. My laptop is a little too wide for it, but that isn't too great a problem. The problem is that it's just too flimsy and cheap. Mine broke after several weeks of use, and though that may just have been bad luck, I don't think these were designed all too well. The fan can also get pretty loud, which can be very annoying if you're using your laptop speakers. Next time, I think I'll go with a My-Link, which incidentally is only a couple of pounds more expensive.
Superb little cooler! October 1, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand
I have been looking online for a cheap laptop stand so I could use my Inspiron 1525 in bed and on my lap without frying my legs. After much searching online I decided to get the Belkin laptop stand.
The stand is lightweight and it has surprised me how much air the fan can move. After any amount of use the whole laptop would feel hot to touch but with the stand running it feels much cooler all over.
This is a superb little cooler which I'd recommend for those who need a cooler to use on your lap as well as on a desk.
One negative thing is that a 15" laptop is about the largest it would take so for those of you lucky enough to have a larger laptop it would be best to look elsewhere!
