2 out of 5 stars OK for Storage; U3 won't work on my Visa PC, consequently unable to properly Eject   November 29, 2008

Having a 4GB Cruzer c/w U3 software, I decided to also buy its 'bigger brother'.

Unfortunately on my Vista machine, the U3 software won't load; this means there is no way to safely "Eject" the drive. Simply removing the flash drive risks long-term damage to the drive & my data.

OK it stores reams of data, but if that data is at long-term risk, I cannot recommend this drive.

Pity, because the 4GB version + U3 software is superb in every way.

U3 works OK on my XP PC.

5 out of 5 stars Very U3 Smart   November 27, 2008

Brillant little device.

Stores everything, including programs so that you can use them on other computers.

It has a security option to set a password, which is great.

Only downside is that it is a flash drive. Some places, work, college, university computers attempt to block the U3 program from running and hence leaving you unable to use your drive.

You just have to delete the U3 files and then it will work. However, dont worry as everytime you pplug in the dongle the files reappear. They are permanently installed on the usb pen.

4 out of 5 stars Small and retractable   November 14, 2008

Initially I had problems with this Pen. On inserting, my Vista PC would crash (Blue Screen). I had other pen dives, which did not have this problem, although one other USB drive caused this error.

I decided to rebuild the PC and the problem went away. I guess the Pen was not at fault, but may be its more sensative than my CORSAIR 2 Gb pen.

The Pen also comes with software which allows you to keep your data and applications (like outlook) on the pen drive so that you can use different PCs. Did not get to test this functionality.

4 out of 5 stars Annoying, flashing light   November 12, 2008

This is an affordable USB key which I bought primarily to take advantage of the Vista Readyboost function (which it is capable of, despite what another reviewer might have suggested). It is a little flimsy, but given the price that's to be expected. However, there is a downside. I use the key on a laptop which has all its USB ports built into the side. When being used with Vista Readyboost the (big) orange light flashes constantly and can become an annoying distraction. But as already mentioned maybe that's to be expected at such an affordable price.

In summary, this is a good USB key but if it's going to be used with a laptop without any rear USB ports you may want to look elsewhere.
