i bought this camera from Amazon on November last year. It works quite well but I am not totally pleased with 230 I had paid for as you cant zoom when you record a video.
with 12mp and some other stuffs but I can see this camera is not much better than the others which less pixel and less money.
Anyhow, so far so good, the len works properly unlike other reviews
Do not buy the Ixus 960 September 29, 2008 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
Worst camera I have owned. Extremely disappointed with this camera. Wish I had gone for the G9. Lens jammed within a month, Amazon were very unhelpful over this and would not exchange camera and I had to get it repaired and had to wait a month while it was sent to Germany to be fixed. 8 out of 10 photos are over exposed and the colours are bleached. Complete rubbish. Had a 3 year old Sony that produced infinity better picture (until it went in the pool).DO NOT BUY ONE
SAME PROBLEM AS ANOTHER/ Blue-pink lines running down photographs! September 8, 2008 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
Hi just bought this camera a couple of weeks ago and only really just tested it now on holiday in Stratford-Upon-Avon. After such excitement about this product, I took some pictures on a sunny day and bright indoor lighting conditions.
Unfortunatley I got (and still get) bluey, green, pink lines running vertically down the picture frame and in the actual pictures. This is also the case in videos.
Another person has highlighted this problem before in his review of October 2007. I had read it and was almost put off myself from buying this camera, but as I have always bought Canon and thought "this won't happen to me". Well it has and I am going to contact Amazon.
Sharp April 28, 2008 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Just a quick note: the lens is uncannily sharp. Really, A2 prints as sharp as anything I've taken ever.
BRILLIANT BUT FLAWED! November 24, 2007 43 out of 53 found this review helpful
I own several different cameras and went for the IXUS 960 IS mainly because of excellent reviews ( I ACTUALLY PRODUCED VERY CLEAR DETAILED IMAGES ON 36" X 36" PRINTS FROM THE 960-THAT SOME SLR'S ONLY ASPIRE TO) and its obvious qualification for streetwise/ spontaneous use. However, had I tried 'hands on' before purchase I might have decided differently Why?....
For a camera of this quality, a simple design flaw such as the battery/memory chip cover coming open every time I gasp that end of the camera and slide it from my pocket, is not good enough. It's not broken, simply there is no lock on the slider...think again canon. The Simple fix I use... put small piece of 'Blutack' or similar on the interior of the battery cover slider where the a/c port accessory hole is found. MINUS ONE STAR
Another negative is the Titanium body. It is very slippy and exceptionally difficult to hold, especially in cold weather with dry hands. This is all compounded by the swept/fluted wedge shape of the body, opposite the controls - it's the camera equivalent of a bar of soap. The camera strap is a necessity, not an option, if you want to keep this otherwise excellent camera away from the ground. My fix is to stick a rubber grip tape on the front of the camera body. MINUS ANOTHER STAR
Buy a second battery and the largest memory chip you can afford. Canon's supplied 32mb (YES THAT'S MB NOT GB)is an insult to any photographers intelligence.
In a nutshell...
Fast street-wise high definition sharpshooter you really have to get to grips with.
