Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 Digital Camera - Black (7.2MP, 10x Optical Zoom) Antishake, 3.0" LCD August 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had this camera for just over a year I think, prompted to buy it after seeing the pics my Mum had got from her TZ1. Unfortunately it has been nothing but a disappointment! I have just looked back through all of the photos I've taken ( 600+ )and there are only a handful that I am pleased with - anything other than good outdoor light leads to pictures where the colour seems to be greying. The flash often over-illuminates, the zoom - well, 10x zoom is great, except when the photos you take with it are not focused properly. This camera has led me to question my own ability to take a good photo; it has also left me wondering whether it's faulty ( If only I hadn't had it for just OVER a year - I'd be sending it back! )and like many reviewers here I've found many opportunities missed by how long it takes to focus.
I really regret buying this camera - now all I have to do is persuade my other half to let me buy a different one!
Sorry, but what about the focus and the low-light? July 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I tried my best with this camera, I REALLY DID! But Im selling it off and buying a new one!!
I bought this camera because I goto a lot of gigs, and dont always want to get under the bands nose to take a photo. So I thought 10x zoom would be pretty good... WRONG! The auto-focus takes forever to adjust, and half the time it still cant focus. Photos as a result are either blurry or noisey to a degree. Waste of a perfectly good optical zoom...
But the biggest draw back is, unless you are constantly in the sun, the photos in low-light (be it in doors, or later in the day) Just come back hazey and BLACK! Total dissapointment! It has loads of "auto-scene" modes.... but I still cant find a suitable one. The on-screen menu also does not allow you to play with the image as much as I would like.
The Anti-Shake really isnt Anti-Shake at all! And I cant believe that I can adjust the settings to the level where I can light-compensate
To be honest, I would rather go back to using a Sony.. and thats saying something!
Final words... Nice looking camera, great wide-angle lens, amazing LCD screen... But not made for indoors, gigs, or quick captures!
The best compromise ever! July 28, 2008 I started out to get a DSLR and then thought I'll never keep this around me for instant pictures. So after then examining about 10 options from Canon, Nikon and Sony etc. there was no real choice. Superb bright large screen. Fantastic wide angle performance, a zoom to die for and settings clearly shown on the screen. For idiots like me, a simple mode and now after a year I've moved on to 'Macro. settings and 'picture' settings etc. etc. Everything seems to have been thought out properly. I've got the 2gb card so around 600 photos before downloading. The camera itself is a delight to show someone pictures complete with a slide show. I can't praise this thing enough and when I see what colleages have bought, I just have to shut up! Buy one and you'll never need another camera.
not that great July 23, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this camera after reading all the fantastic reviews here, and I have to say that after using it many times, i'm not that impressed. The main problem I find is that it is really light sensitive and on medium days with not much sun, and indoors.. images are bleached out as if my subjects are in direct sunlight. I've played around with the settings, but nothing has changed.
There are definetly some nice features with this camera, but if a basic photo in medium lighting conditions isn't good, then whats the point?
Delighted June 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have used this camera most of the time recently, I have to say I am delighted with the results, the pictures are superb, the quality is so good, I have got perfect pictures at all times. The 10 x focus is a huge added bonus, you can shoot on auto or adjust the settings, I have only used auto using different scene modes with stunning results. Both indoor and outdoor pitures are perfect.Panasonic have delivered with quality, features and price! I give this camera 10/10
