Creative Couldn't Care Less December 5, 2008 Beware of Creative customer care.
I recently contacted them with a problem with my MP3 player.
Basically, although it worked fine and was fully loaded with my whole music and video collection, I couldn't add any further content to it.
Customer care took me through a diagnostic process which ended with a instructions to completely reformat the machine, stripping it of its operating system.
I e-mailed them to say I was nervous of doing this, but they insisted it was necessary and that if it didn't work I'd be invited to send the unit in for repair or replacement.
When I took the fateful step and lost everything they informed me that I was out of warranty and they wanted 60 to repair it (even though they had known my purchase date and had a copy of my Amazon receipt from the beginning).
As this unit can now be bought for about this amount I had no option but to bin it.
Result, no player, 4500 tracks and dozens of films lost forever.
If they had told me the cost of repair before pushing me to reformat I could have made and informed decision.
Do not trust their advice, in fact if I were you I'd buy elsewhere!
An excellent iPod Alternative August 14, 2008 I bought this player because as a previous iPod owner I had no intention or purchasing another. In the main this is an excellent product, it is small, light, power efficient and easy to manage and transfer music to. It isn't perfect by any means - the display isn't as refined as the iPod Nano's and the navigation is a little clunkier. But for all that I'm extremely happy with it - the key emphasis to me is that it has superior sound quality to the iPods which I think is the fundamental point of any player; it sounds better and is cheaper than the Nano so it was an easy win.
Great little player! August 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have had the Zen V+ for almost a year and thought I ought to add my opinion on it as I have been enormously helped in purchasing items on Amazon by other people's reviews! I totally agree with the majority of people reviewing this mp3 player and have found it to be an excellent little music player, easy to use with a great sound (base not easily heard but this is probably because I have yet to splash out on really good earphones!). Easy to copy from PC to player using either Windows Explorer drag and drop, or Windows Media Player. It did freeze once after a few days, but I reset it using the small hole on the side and it has never done this since. Occasionally it decides to reformat itself which takes a little while, but everything is still there once it has finished! You can delete one track or a whole album - just press the [Return] key longer and you get a menu. Definitely worth buying the plug charger for hols. Battery not bad, lasts 2 - 3 days. 8GB is large enough for me as it is easy to delete an album or artist to make space for new ones. I bought a skin, but find that it doesn't really need one as it is quite sturdy and hasn't got scratched without one. It is very small and fits into any pocket. BUY ONE!
not good enough June 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Im on my second vplus the first froze and had to be replaced, now the second one has gone wrong and I`m in the process of getting it fixed/replaced.I`m very disapointed as when it worked it was quite good, but if you use a mp3 alot the last thing you want to do is have to keep sending it away to be sorted!! I wont buy creative again!!!!
Oh Dear . . Another Duff One June 3, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As some previous reviewers have found, the quality control at Creative leaves a lot to be desired. Only 24 hours after buying mine I'm left with a player that is stuck on the logo screen and won't switch off (unless you leave it until the battery runs flat). The helpline suggestions won't work because they assume you can boot the player into recovery mode, which I can't do as it freezes as soon as the battery starts to charge.
It's the inconvenience that's the most annoying part - as well as having paid for something I can't use I've now got the pain of trying to get a refund (definitely not interested in a replacement).
Perhaps the Sandisk would be a better choice . . .
