1 out of 5 stars Creative Couldn't Care Less   December 5, 2008
Beware of Creative customer care.

I recently contacted them with a problem with my MP3 player.

Basically, although it worked fine and was fully loaded with my whole music and video collection, I couldn't add any further content to it.

Customer care took me through a diagnostic process which ended with a instructions to completely reformat the machine, stripping it of its operating system.

I e-mailed them to say I was nervous of doing this, but they insisted it was necessary and that if it didn't work I'd be invited to send the unit in for repair or replacement.

When I took the fateful step and lost everything they informed me that I was out of warranty and they wanted 60 to repair it (even though they had known my purchase date and had a copy of my Amazon receipt from the beginning).

As this unit can now be bought for about this amount I had no option but to bin it.

Result, no player, 4500 tracks and dozens of films lost forever.

If they had told me the cost of repair before pushing me to reformat I could have made and informed decision.

Do not trust their advice, in fact if I were you I'd buy elsewhere!

5 out of 5 stars A GREAT LITTLE GADGET (FORGET   June 10, 2008

I have had mine for over a year and it has never failed me once. Great for downloaded content, plays all sorts of files, fantastic screen for downloaded movies or TV. Fits in the back pocket and comes with me on all my travels. Buy a better set of headphones to really appreciate the music. Attatches to any TV. You can view and move the files via windows rather than the supplied software.

(This replaced my unreliable Ipod Nano)

4 out of 5 stars Great music, not so good for photos   December 8, 2007

As someone who is a complete technophobe and who ventured into the world of MP3 players with this purchase, I found this player extremely easy to use in conjunction with my laptop. It is intuitive, making it easy to download wma files from websites and also to rip CDs. I am still working out its full potential.

However, I cannot give it 5 stars as unfortunately, the quality of photos is not as good as I had expected it to be - and the photo viewer was actually why I bought the thing in the first place. My photos appear a little pixelated, although the ones that come with the player are sharp - so maybe it is something to do with me! It is also much bigger and heavier than other players, which was a price I was willing to pay to take advantage of the plug and play compact flash card viewer. Don't take it whilst you are jogging!

5 out of 5 stars Ideal for the frequent traveller.   October 15, 2007

This is a wonderful piece of hardware and a great way to preserve your sanity if you're forced ( like me ) to spend large amounts of time sat in airport departure lounges.

The screen is crystal clear, the menu system is very easy to use and the whole thing just 'works'. I managed to watch two movies, a couple of episodes of The Sopranos and listened to a fair bit of music, all off the initial charge ( like anything that's powered by rechargeable batteries, you're best to leave it overnight to carry out it's initial charge ).

The only small niggle is that I have to convert DVDs to .avi files before I can then sync them onto the Creative. I'd have liked Creative to have written an app to make the whole thing seamless, but you can't have everything.

How much do I like this media player ? Well it was stolen a few days ago and I have no hesitation in replacing it, even at my own expense.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome   August 31, 2007

The zen vision W is excellent, if you don't mind the size, then its a winner all the way.

Two brilliant things worth noting about this product:

* you can connect it to your TV and watch movies from it there.

* built in speakers

The headphones supplied aren't great though, so a small investment in some others are a good idea.

I love the zen vision W, and beats iPod by a long way, despite the price.
