3 out of 5 stars NO REPAIRS DEPT.   September 18, 2008
As fantastic as this product is, I'm now on my second one in a year, currently negotiating my third, as the Creative repairs department do not repair (not cost effective {i.e. its cheaper to replace entirely}) Creative Zen V's. Great product, just make sure you take out a good insurance policy (i.e. 3 yrs plus), because mine was 3 days out and Currys still refused to exchange it.

5 out of 5 stars great for recording.   September 12, 2008
Creative Zen V+ 4GB

ok, this review is JUST for using this thing as a recording device.

what i did like about it was the ability to edit the menu's and remove all the unwanted stuff. i ended up with a menu that said "Recordings" and "Line in recording" and "System"!

the screen orientation can be changed also and brightness turned down from the default 100%. i run it at 40% i think. (i don't use it outside).

actual recording: ok, for some strange reason the only two recording formats are 120k wma and 160k wma. i would have preferred 120 and 240k or 160k and 320k. not sure even if those exist in the wma format, but never mind. 160k produces a reasonable enough sound.

i only wanted to get a device that i could record radio shows from, that i do, and with 4gb using compressed wma format, i can get a helluva lot of shows on there!

so i gave it 5 stars because it does very well what i wanted it to do, which was a simple, no nonsense recording device...only ;)

cheers,
bill

3 out of 5 stars Great player Bad customer service   September 10, 2008
This player was great. It did what it said on the tin but when it went wrong you have to deal with the Creative Technical Support Team. My player started to go wrong and they gave me the runaround for two months. I had to try all sorts on my own computer and then try the same on every Tom,Dick and Harry's computer. When I declared that I had had enough of all their shenigans they cut me off quick and mercilessly. Beware.

1 out of 5 stars Built to last.....er ....2 months max   June 10, 2008

Screen failed after just 2 months of very light use. Looking at previous reviews, this would seem to be a manufacturing problem.

Amazon returns service worked very well - the only thing about this product that did.

Don't buy. Spend more for quality - it will pay in long term.

1 out of 5 stars A nice little Mp3 player. If it worked.   May 14, 2008

The first one I had of these lasted a month, if that. Then the screen went and was only readable in a very dark room. Then it just wouldn't turn on (or the screen went completely, but I couldn't even get it to play music like it was previously).

So it was replaced with the same thing and I had the identical problem repeat itself within a week. Usless. Oh and those silicone cases are terrible and rip easily.

Not worth the hassle.
