4 out of 5 stars A good option for those on a budget   May 4, 2006

While this monitor may not have quite the same level of clarity or maximum resolution of most of the market, for such a low price I can't say I'm not glad I bought it. A slight on-screen fuzz stops it from reaching the pin-sharp visuals that most TFT screens offer, but for those looking to save valuable desk space on a tight budget, this is a godsend.

1 out of 5 stars Poor quality and a waste of time!!!   January 23, 2006

I had this tft for 6 months until it stopped working, electrical fault I think. It also had a few dead pixels upon delivery. Stick with recognised brand names that come with a 3 year warranty as opposed to only the statutory one year.

4 out of 5 stars Seems fine   October 5, 2005

A non-computer-orientated friend of mine asked me to get him the cheapest flat monitor I could find. This was it. I warned him that the reviews here indicated there might be some dead pixels but he decided to risk it. It was delivered promptly and he set it up himself. This show it must have been easy as he's the type of person who would rather get any passing stranger to try to sort out his computer than mess about with it himself. He's delighted with it. Not a dead pixel anywhere and a lot of space freed up on his desk. In every lottery there are winners - and at least when you deal with Amazon they're quick to change any faulty goods.

5 out of 5 stars Dead Pixel Worries unfounded   September 30, 2005

I couldn't resist this monitor at the price, but was worried about the number reviews complaining of dead pixels. This turned out to be a non-issue when the monitor arrived - no dead pixels, just a good quality display - exactly what I was after. Result!

As a side note - as expected, the speakers are quite tiny, but as I already have a set of quality speakers this caused no issue. (didn't buy it for the speakers anyway).

5 out of 5 stars Good Value at the price   September 30, 2005

I looked at this product again as a replacement for an ageing 17" monitor. I was disappointed to see the adverse comments, as I have owned one of these monitors for 7 months. It isn't perfect by any means, in that is fairly slow compared to others. In the main I use mine for word processing, spreadsheeting, email and web browsing. It has saved me space, is as attractive as these things are and for the odd beeps etc that I receive, audio is fine.

I think that anyone who wants a simple monitor for general use, this is the business. If you want games and high fidelity, then by all means pay more for something with better performance and speakers; as someone who can remember paying twice as much for a 14 inch VGA 15 years ago, when sound was limited to a squeak, the progress made is incredible and the price ever more competitive.

Obviously there will be disappointed customers and I sympathise with them, but with Amazon's excellent returns policy, I would recommend taking a chance if your needs are not high end.

A classic case of you pays your money........ - suffice to say, the second one is on its way to me.
