Great budget stand October 3, 2008 I've written this review because some people seem to have had problems using this stand with larger laptops. I'm using it with a 17" Dell Inspiron and am delighted with it. It feels sturdy and I think it's great value.
NOT SUITABLE FOR LARGE LAPTOPS! September 14, 2008 The Kensington Easy Riser is a well built product, the plastic feels sturdy enough and of good quality.
BUT, and this is a huge But... - it can be adjusted in only four positions and the lower one is too high (I am 1.79m) - it can obstruct the line/headphones out socket if it is located on the front of your laptop - it is NOT suitable for a 17 inch laptop!
My HP DV9000 series laptop (17 inch) was too big for the laptop riser. Furthermore HP and Toshiba laptops with a slightly rounded lower front end tend to slip off the rabberized laptop riser.
Also I felt that the placement on the Kensington riser was not the best for my laptop since the fan socket was sitting directly on the rabberized part of the stand.
Some of my comments apply only to the HP DV9000 Series or other 17 inch laptops.
Overall this would be a very good product for any slim 15 inch laptop or smaller.
Ideal solution and great value for money September 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This simple, but highly effective, piece of equipment arrived the same day as my friend was passing through from South Africa. So impressed was she by the notebook stand, she hijacked it to take back to SA and I had to buy another one! I would highly recommend the stand - it is simple, sturdy (but light), compact and does the job.
Ok, but not for larger laptops August 30, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Having felt the start of neck strain from looking down at my laptop screen, I decided to buy the Easy Riser to get the screen lifted up towards eye level. The construction and locking mechanism are sturdy and built to last, and would be perfect for any laptop up to about 15" screen size.
Unfortunately, my laptop is a Sony Vaio FW11 with a 16.4" screen size and quite a deep chassis. As a result, the back of the laptop hangs over the back of the Easy Riser. This weight hanging over the back causes the front to lift up slightly, so that the laptop looks like it might slip over the front lip altogether. Not something I want to risk with a 1300 quid laptop.
That said, I'm sure the Easy Rider would be perfect for smaller laptops which don't have such a deep chassis.

I've never written a review before, but this thing is so good I had to spread the word. It is a lot more solid than it looks on the picture and has totally revolutionised my posture and workspace.
It is simply brilliant. If you are looking for something like this, look no further. This is everything you need it to be, simple, strong, and inexpensive. Buy it.
