Not Macintosh Compatible August 8, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The description says the camera is, but it is definitely not Mac OS X compatible. The mac system is not recognizing the camera on it's own and there is not driver available. Otherwise the camera is fine for that price, works good with a PC. The one star is for the wrong description.
Who's That Ugly Mother On The Computer...oh.....It's Me! July 17, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
With this item you basically get what you pay for, it's cheap and cheerful and does exactly what it says on the tin, the software was easy to install, the picture quality is average as expected and it's very tiny and ideal for Laptops. My only real complaints would be that when taking still pictures I found it difficult to save it in the file I wanted (My Pictures) and it was by random luck that I found how to put pictures in there and even now it seems unusual the way you get your 'still pictures' in there, whether or not this is down to my level of expertise I don't know, but anyway that and the way it struggles to see in partially lighted rooms are the only real issues, if I was to nitpick I would say that the cable isn't very long, but I am sure a USB extension would soon sort this!
All in all though, good value for money and a perfect for first time webcam users!
not for macs February 16, 2006 18 out of 21 found this review helpful
I'm sure this lovely little webcam works very well on a windows os, but it has no drivers for any mac os (nor do any seem to be downloadable from the sweex website), contrary to the product description published above! This is not a mac compatible product!

Great value basic webcam, ideal for laptops January 25, 2006 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
We bought this for Skype 2, and it worked perfectly straight out of the box on a Toshiba Centrino laptop running under Win XP Home. Quality is what you'd expect at this resolution - it's fine in a small window, but grainier in bigger ones. No light on the unit, so pictures are better in stronger light, but this contributes to keeping it compact, which matters with my overfed laptop bag. No microphone, but we happily use cheapo microphone headsets (under £2 at some suppliers)to avoid echo on the call. Our wizzo webcam-with-mike on the family desktop is used mostly without the mike because of the usual echo problems for the people at the other end of the call. The stiff USB cable works well on our Tosh - but it's about ten inches long, so check that your laptop USB port is within 10" (254mm) of where the cam can work. Software works 100%, but apart from the ULead Photo stuff, ULead 360 panoramic photo maker which we haven't tried, it's basic. Be nicer if the software had a 'Mirror' or 'Flip' option that you get on some other cams (admittedly not nearly so cheap). Having said that, it's beautifully compact, adequately well made, and does what it says on the tin at a bargain price. Well earned 5 stars.
