Amazon.co.uk Review Though often and unfairly dismissed as a Quantum Leap clone, the Fox TV series Sliders earned a substantial fan base thanks to its intriguing central premise--the existence of multiple alternate realities--and impressive special effects, both of which get a fine showcase in this six-disc DVD set. Jerry O'Connell leads the appealing cast as a college student who accidentally discovers a portal into alternate dimensions; with the help of his professor (Lord of the Rings' John Rhys-Davies), a spunky Girl Friday (Sabrina Lloyd), and a soul crooner (Cleavant Derricks), O'Connell encounters a host of strange parallel Earths, including a British-ruled United States and one where dinosaurs roam a national park. All nine episodes of the 1995 debut season and the 12-episode second season from '96, as well as the pilot from '95, are included in the aesthetically impressive set; extras, however, are limited to commentary by creators Tracy Torme and Robert K. Weiss on the pilot episode, and a making-of featurette with O'Connell and Derricks. --Paul Gaita

Very nice entertainment for the entire family. July 27, 2006 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
After I saw it on TV during the 90's, and being short on sci-fi gender DVD box-sets (which I love), I gave it a go on this one and it was very worthy. I really enjoy it then, and also now.
It focuses on a teenager genius that discovered a way to visit other Earth paralel dimensions, and with some friends is forced on doing it until they can find their original Earth parallel dimension. They visit a doomsday Earth threatened by a huge asteroid; a plague afflicted Earth, and so on.
The DVD have English subtitles, for those whom need a little help on catching the dialogs (witch is great for all non-English); but poor special features. The box is nice.
Historical remark: During the characters visit to an Earth dominated by communism, Prof. Arturo, when seeing the statue of Lenin, call him Nikolai Ilyitch Ulyanov. Well...Nikolai (Nikolai Ulyanov) was Lenin's grandfather, from his father side. Lenin's original name was Vladimir Ilyitch Ulianov, afterwards Vladimir Ilyitch Lenin.
Bottom line: Very much enjoyable series, two seasons in one at a very nice price, with great and then original scripts. Light sci-fi for the entire family.

If you ever used to watch sliders when it was on tv you know how gripped you were to it, as every episode offered some new and interesting world to discover. If you haven't seen sliders your missing out on a cracking adventure. With cast members seuch a John Rhys-Davis and Jerry O'Connell you will get something memoriable each time you watch it. There are 22 episodes in season 1+2, on 6 discs, and also some bonus material such as 'The making of sliders' and 'a Photo Gallery'. Audio Commemtary by the creators is offered for the first 3 epsiodes. The price when i bought it was great for what you are getting. There arent many series like this anymore.
Loved the show on TV, love it on DVD! January 6, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is an excellent and very watchable show, Sci-fi at its best. The other reviewers make good points about the order of the episodes and special features, but this is far outweighed by the quality of the shows and likeability of the characters. I would recommend this set to anyone.
Sliders - a great show, but the DVD, not so good! August 14, 2005 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Sliders has to be one of my favourite shows, as a kid I use to love watching the series and when I heard that it was coming out on DVD I was quite excited. The whole idea of "sliding" to different worlds was interesting, the cast was well put together. Malory was the science whiz, but at the same time brought an "action man" feel to the show, Arturo was the sensible one, a bit like a mentor and perhaps a father figure to Quinn, Crying Man Brown was the comic side to the story, he was always able to keep the audience laughing. The on/off relationship of Wade and Quinn kept people watching, and it kept people wondering whether or not they would get together. But it has to be said that the special features on the DVD are exceedingly poor, there could have been so much more, for instance a behind the scenes section, or a look at how Sliders was made. Instead we get a short 5 minute interview with only 2 cast members. Sliders is a great show, but I was disapointed with the DVD.
Sliders seasons 1 and 2 July 24, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Although the special features in the DVD set are quite bad, Sliders is an amazing show that looks at the possibility of other worlds. It is interesting to see how history could have taken a different course. Despite being similar to shows such as Quantum Leap, Sliders is an original show that raises interesting issues, the characters are believable and the story lines are always well put together.
