Follow Up Review November 16, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Following on from my previous review, I have to make a complete U-turn. Although I still really like the mouse for function and design, after only a matter of months I am very disappointed. The silver colour is a very thin paint and has started to wear off in patches. What I expected to be a quality product is actually cheaply made.
Excellent March 6, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Been using the mouse for a couple of days now. I expected it to be a case of style over function but have been very impressed all round. The mouse looks fantastic. It reminds me of a glowing scarab beetle from the film "The Mummy". Everybody who sees it likes it and has to have a play. Functionally it is superb. The mouse fits snugly in the hand where other MS mice have been too large. The full length buttons take an hour or so to get used to but then are fine. Even the silicone dots on the base of the mouse give a quality feel and a smooth glide over my desk. I am jsut about to order a second one so I can have one in the office and one at home. Brilliant. Buy one!
Nice style December 4, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This mouse has, undeniably, a nice style to it with the blue/orange light running in the middle. It looks futuristic, and at night with lights off looks even better. But it does not feel futuristic, its just like any other mouse really. You might be able to tell from the picture on Amazon that the button run down the entire mouse instead of just at the end, much like the Appla Mac mouse of recent which take some getting used to. The mouse itself is also very small (well, smaller than the Explorer) and clicking both buttons (left and right) is an easy thing to do. On the up side though, the wheel works very well, and is nice and smooth. The mouse is optical, which you have probably already figured. The optical scanning though is not particularly impressive, with the curser occasionally darting to the top right corner of my screen which is annoying to put it mildly - especially when playing a first person shooter. However, that said, if you want style over functionality, I would recommend this mouse. It just looks so damn kewl. Would recomment using it on a grained surface.
nice design + comfortable to use October 26, 2004 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
This new mouse from Microsoft, beautifully designed by S+arck looks great in the box. Out of the packaging and plugged in to your PC it looks even better, as the middle of the mouse lights up (in either orange or blue). It looks especially nice in darker rooms at night. It doesn't fail to disappoint in use either. It's optical so there's no need for a mousemat (it works well on any surface) and the accuracy is spot on. I used a wireless Microsoft mouse before this and got fed up of replacing the batteries every two months - and recommend this for anyone looking to upgrade from an older mouse. This mouse is smaller than many, so doesn't fit in your hand quite so well, yet it is still comfortable to use, even for extended periods of time - and at just 26 its fantastic value for money.
