not bad, but... August 23, 2006 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product is good, except for the size. I used it to transfer data to and from a laptop, but the size of it meant I had to unplug my mouse to actually use it. Apart from that it's ok, but it did seem to play up every now and again. I got fed up and have now just ordered a new, different one!
Great little storage centre April 3, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is my second storage centre and I like it better than my more expensive other one. Although it is a bit chunky, I have found it to fit all the different computers I use, whether the usb is at the front, side or back of the computer, it fits in okay, all our home pcs are windows xp and also work pcs, it instals quickly and easily, not tried it on win 98, I have trod on it and got it stuck in the car door, but it still works, well worth the price
Bytestor USB pen drive 256k March 10, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
No problems at all with this, unless you have a Windows 98 PC. Real problems installing the driver - it will only give me an option to uninstall the driver! Have put in a technical service request on Bytestor's website this evening, so I'll see how long it takes for them to get back to me. My advice, 5 stars, as long as you're using something that doesn't need a driver, like Windows XP. If you need to use this on a PC with Windows 98, then take care.
Good Product January 20, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Like most USB devices works well. It's even worked after being dropped from a great height! Only problem I have encountered is it's a little on the fat side and on some hubs is a tight squeeze.
Apart from the losing it...its all good November 25, 2005 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this to transfer files to and from school. Was a little worried about wheter or not it'd be compatible with Linux or not, but it is...mostly.When I first bought it, I was using SuSE (9.2). I could plug it in, after a short delay, I was prompted with the option to browse the new device, or just ignore it. No problems. (apart from the ridiculously long folder name :p) Then I switched to Ubuntu...a few problems with the permissions and all, not too sure where the logic of it all comes from...but I think it depends on what you do with your system... :$ 256MB is more than enough for some puny school files. I ended up using it more as a light-back-up of important files than just file transfer... Which isn't good news seeing as I've just lost it, and all the data I "backed up" (and now don't have a copy of) Its impressively sturdy. Incase your worrying...it didn't get lost through any particular fault of its own. I think I left it somewhere, or it felt out of my (folded up) trouser pocket :$ Meh.
