Does what it says in the box September 8, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This excellent little device plugs in to a USB port (1.1 or 2) on your PC - you then insert your Smart Media card into the slot and it transfers your data (in my case, pictures from my digital camera) instantly to your computer. It comes with a mini-extension cable in case your USB port is in a hard-to-reach place (and they often are). There is a software disc containing the drivers (for non-XP PCs) and the instructions although the device is so easy to use it is unlikely you will need them. A second disc contains image editing software which will certainly be a bonus if you don't already have a way of organising and editing your images. The disc also contains the Open Office office software suite! What more could you want?
Software is rubbish, hardware is excellent! July 10, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If, like me you dont want to spend ages waiting for your pictures to download from your camera, this is for you. Just plug it into the USB port and it becomes another drive on your PC. Drag and drop pictures from one place to another and it does it in at least half the time. The software is no good to man nor beast (the photo editor I got with the camera is better) it kept crashing on XP - but you can use the CD as a coaster for cups or a frisbee! :-D
Great. July 29, 2004 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Damaged the USB socket on my camera. Couldn't download pictures. Aaahhh ! Realised I could use one of these, rather than buy a new camera. Brilliant. Simply unpacked ( 1st class delivery - thank you Amazon ),slipped in my memory card, and plugged into the USB on my computer. If you are on Windows XP - no problem. Just go to 'my computer', and there is the drive. Open up, and the pictures are already there. A tenner to save me the cost of a new camera ? Brilliant !
Excellent piece of kit & cheap too March 25, 2004 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
This card reader arrived within 2 days and I am delighted with it. I run Windows XP so it really is just plug in and use, no messing about with drivers. It's probably not much faster at transferring photos than my camera but it does save the battery life and with the free USB cable, it can sit on your desk where, at only 2" and 3", it isn't going to take up any space. The free Ulead Photo editing software is an added bonus and I'm having fun finding out what it can do. what more can I say? It's easy to use and excellent value for money.
