Microsoft Stole my buttons! May 20, 2005 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I'm a software developer. I live by my keyboard, and the original MS Natural keyboard was wonderful when it came out. And I have used it faithfully right up until an accident involving a cup of tea forced me to upgrade.this one? It sucks. They took away the insert button! Every time I reach for insert, I hit delete instead. Bang! something gets taken away. And then there are the function keys. If you use a development IDE, you will know the bindings. F5-toggle breakpoint, control-f9 build, etc etc. While the buttons are there, they are off by default. Ok, no big deal you say, just jut the f-lock and they are back. But when you use a laptop, the keyboard forgets its settings every time the laptop gets unplugged from the 'board. Other people like this keyboard. All I can say is this: they are not software developers.
Yes I Like It February 3, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I suffer from myasthenia gravis (please google it!) so I needed a keyboard that was easy to use and lived up to its claims to be ergonomic. I was not disappointed: it is extremely well-designed and the quality is exceptional at this price. Unlike some of the other commentators, I appreciate the short cut keys although (naturally) they are all preset to windows own choices; however, I found it very easy to configure. Also, I found the keys to be quite firm and responsive and not in the least rattly. Recommended.
Fantastic wrist saver January 4, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased this keyboard after I discovered that my normal flat keyboard (the one that came with my computer) was causing me a considerable amount of discomfort. This keyboard is the same (discounting colour) as the one that I use at work, which makes it even easier for me to get used to using it. The wrist support is good and the layout of the keyboard, whilst extremely different to other ergonomic keyboards I have used, is one I have been able to get used to quickly and is far kinder to my wrists than the flat keyboard I had previously used.A definite must-buy for anyone who is finding their wrists ache after a few hours of sitting at the keyboard, and for anyone who types a considerable amount in general.
Beautifully upgraded for the 21st century December 5, 2004 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I purchased one of the original "Microsoft Natural" keyboards in the early 1990s and got so used to its layout and anti-repetitive strain dynamics that I have judged every keyboard since by it's feel and comparability which has menat that many were found very lacking! With a new computer in 2004, I purchased this latest version with all the new technology fixes of "shortcut" function buttons (Email and Web/Home being the ones that save me most time) plus the F-Lock feature which again allows a whole host of shortcuts on Windows functions. In addition the keyboard still has a very "natural" incline to hands and wrists that after getting used to certainly feels much more comfortable to this user - also one of the better priced Microsoft products and a "must have" for me.
Not bad, but not the best... August 9, 2004 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I've had the MS Natural Keyboards ever since they first came out, and after the first two weeks I have never liked using a "regular" keyboard since. The originals were quite a bit bulkier than the new versions and had a full size keyboard layout. These newer versions have been cut down in size a little so the keys between the main keyboard and the numeric keypad aren't in the standard layout and this takes some time to get used to. If, like me, you have to use many different keyboards at work then it is difficult to adjust. Another difference is build quality. The keys are lighter and the keys are a little rattly. The supports underneath if you like your keyboard inclined are less sturdy - in fact the whole thing is less sturdy but that is the price of progress and cheaper prices... All in all, once you've got used to the odd layout then these are fine, comfortable keyboards to use. My personal preference for the older ones and their (to me) better feel and quality is the only reason that I don't give this five stars.
