I have since bought a new PC but before that i had an old windows 98 with only 2 USB ports, one of which didn't work. I used many USB devices and found it annoying having to plug in and un-plug different things from the same port. This device saved me alot of time and trouble.
Very disappointing - no support from Belkin April 4, 2003 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
Although apparently working as self-powered with its own plug and transformer, this draws power from my PC even after following all instructions on Belkin Web site. PC will not start/reboot while my MS Optical Blue mouse is attached - draws too much power from my Dell. This is a real nuisance. No reply to an email to Belkin Technical Support after an entire MONTH, only alternative is being on hold on an INTERNATIONAL call, not attractive. I would not buy any gear from BELKIN again - NO support.
Good - for the most part. January 14, 2003 32 out of 34 found this review helpful
I have found this hub to be stable and easy to use. The one problem I have had is with regard to my optical mouse which works fine on the computer's root hub, but when plugged into the Belkin powered hub, becomes irratic and seems to "short out" (The optics seem to become intermittent). I am not aware of any problems with anything else I use with the hub. This problem has been solved by just not using the mouse in the Hub itself, although had I known of this issue I may have considered a different brand or model.
OK for desktops -- doesn't travel well January 10, 2003 31 out of 32 found this review helpful
Unusually for Belkin kit, this works straight out of the box and consistently -- a first for me from this manufacturer. Once installed -- which is quick and painless -- it works well and without complaint. The only downsides are its bulk -- it is about the size of a packet of cigarettes -- and the power supply, which needless to say weighs about the same as a half-brick. If you are after a USB hub for a desktop, and space and a socket are not issues, go for it. For a laptop, though, you may would be better off with a pricier -- but smaller and power-supply-less -- alternative.
