5 out of 5 stars Better than Verbatim?   March 8, 2004

Bought a box of these as second-line disks to my rather more expensive Verbatim super AZO Crystal CDRs. I have ended up using the Benqs in preference, as I have had no errors at all, whereas the Verbatims fail about half the time (for the same job). Admittedly I have not used hundreds of disks yet (around 20) but for my setup the difference is clear. No disrespect to Verbatim, but for me, I'll use disks that work (with Artec WRR-52Z & Nero 6)

4 out of 5 stars Can only burn at 4X   February 27, 2004

First couple of burns failed before discovering I could only burn at 4X. This may be my dated PlexWriter, but I see other people with same problem and its ok at 8X with Imation CDs.

Yes, the purple pattern on the CD can get in the way when labelling.

Still excellent value, even though I have to wait that little bit longer...

3 out of 5 stars Not Bad, But A Few Probs...   February 18, 2004

I purchased these cd-r's mainly for storing photos from my digital camera, and for storing word files, etc - and for this purpose they are totally fine.
however...
...when i attempted to burn an audio cd, i found that i had to use a really slow burning speed. when i burnt at 10x it plays back fine on the laptop but when whacked into a stereo it plays only the first five seconds before jumping here, there and everywhere! i have found 4x to be fine, but haven't tried 8x...maybe it's me being a pc dumbo or something, but then again, maybe i'm clever and these cd's are a bit pantish.
the only other complaint i have is that on the cd surface there is no room to write properly, as it has a coloured gloss covering much of the disk surface. you can still write on it, but if you got purple ones like myself it can be hard to read sometimes.
other than these small blips, they are a quality purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Great Item, Easy to Use   February 18, 2004
I've gone through several spindles of these cd's now and find them fantastic. My burner is fussy and rejects a good many other brands of cd's, but I've never had a problem with these.

1 out of 5 stars Rubbish   January 21, 2004

Like others I bought 50 of these waste of space discs and haven't been able to get a single recording to work with my computer freezing every time. I have even upgraded my burning software to a newer edition (Nero 6) but to no avail. Other cheap discs (really crappy Maxell 4x speed!) work perfectly. I'm about to ask Amazon for my money back but suggest you direct yours elsewhere.
