2 out of 5 stars Very disappointing   July 18, 2004

For many years I have been using the good-old IBM-keyboards, the ones with 'clicks' whilst typing. I bought the Microsoft Internet Keyboard a few days ago assuming that it was of the same high quality as their mice. However, it appeard to be quite a disappointing experience that I needed to type/push the keys harder (specifically) on the spacebar than the old IBM-keyboard and I find myself making a lot of corrections whilst typing. I'd rather pay a few bucks more for a good keyboard WITH cord (that tend to become a rare commodity). Maybe the word "Internet" in the name reveals that the keyboard is primarily meant to be used for browsing and some occassional writing and not for whole day of typing using all 10 fingers. Am considering trying to swap it against a Logitech Deluxe Access Keyboard...

4 out of 5 stars Nice feel, good value   March 6, 2004

This is nice keyboard with an excellent feel, and that's the most important thing. But there are a few negatives.

Firstly, some of the keys (eg, the Ctrl, Alt and space bar) are of a different shape and size to standard keyboards. Although this improves aesthetics, it does little for ergonomics. It makes some key combinations akward and your fingers will have to adopt slightly new positions to what they're used to while typing. Also, the slope of the keyboard is different to others, ie it seems flatter and needs to be sloping slightly more towards you.

The shortcut keys are useful if you want them but there's no one-touch button for turning off the PC, like my old and inferior keyboard had. You'd think they'd include this as one off the functions you can assign a button to.

But if you use just one keyboard then you will quickly get used to the differences.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent entry level keyboard   April 15, 2003

Very nice design, I find it great to type with. The hotkeys are very nice to use, although the I only really use 3 of the hotkeys, web, mail and calculator. The back, forward and stop keys are probably good, but for me its just easier to click the back appropriate button in Internet Explorer. Still, for the price, its a fantastic keyboard.

5 out of 5 stars Microsoft Internet Keyboard - One of the best   January 9, 2003

The Microsoft Internet Keyboards was the first Microsoft hardware product i have bought, I have been more than happy with it.

Installation is unbelievably easy, Take it out of the box and plug in to your PS/2 and switch on you PC. once windows has started, insert the CD that come with it and follow the instructions....Simply

it is nice to type on and it's nice and responsive. The detachable palm rest is just a cheap piece of plastic but is does the job. The hotkey buttons are useful, and with the option to change their function you can't go wrong. Defiantly worth the money.

and i WILL be buying Microsoft Hardware Products again
