Anime Studio is probably the best and most affordable animation software around for the beginner and the serious amateur, with the Pro version being more expensive but equally superb (and MUCH less costly than all other professional-level programs). Even though there are lots of excellent tutorials available from the software publishers (Smithmicro), and lots more examples and demos can be found on the internet, this weighty book is still essential reading for anyone who REALLY wants to get to grips with Anime Studio.
Unlike so many software manuals, it is immensely readable and is admirably low on both acronyms and impenetrable jargon and techno-speak. Diagrams and screenshots are used plentifully and appropriately as the book takes a careful and well-structured route through the processes of getting to know how the program works and of then exploring how to use such easy-to-understand but tricky-to-apply techniques as the use of 'bones' when 'rigging' characters and objects that need to be animated as if they are walking, flying, crawling etc.
My only gripe is that it would have been nice if the book had been spiral-bound so that it could be opened flat on the desk beside you as you worked, but apart from that, I can't really fault it.
If you are experienced animator, then you will probably already use a program such as 'ToonBoom', but if you are a beginner or just an enthusiastic amateur then both Anime Studio and this official guide will allow you to develop your full potential as an animator.
It is, of course, worth pointing out that the entry-level program 'Anime Studio' lacks many of the features that are present in the Pro version, and that the book naturally covers all of those in considerable depth and detail. Therefore, if you only have the basic version of the software, this book may not have quite the usefulness that it will offer to users of the Pro version.
The book comes with a CD which contains a 30-day version of 'Anime Studio 5 Pro' as well as copies of all the project files and examples that are referred to in the book.
My last piece of advice is to look to see if you can buy the book from an affiliate in this country. That may well save you money. That's what I did and I received mine within 5 working days.
